3D Imaging – CS 8100 3D System by Carestream
At Palisades Surgical Arts, your oral health is our number one priority. To provide you with the best possible care, we utilize the latest technologies and techniques. This includes the use of 3D imaging with the CS 8100 3D System by Carestream.
What is the CS 8100 3D System?
The CS 8100 3D System is an extraoral 2D/3D imaging system, which can be used to take digital images of the inside of your mouth. It also can generate digital impressions. This new technology offers benefits to us as well as to you.
Multiple Imaging Types for Multiple Uses
With the CS 8100 3D, we are provided with several different types of imaging options. These options allow us to use this machine to perform several different tasks. We can take 2D panoramic images (similar to a regular dental X-ray), 3D images, which provide us with multiple views from several angles of your mouth, and the ability to generate digital impressions, which avoids the need for traditional impression putty. With 3D images and digital impressions, we are also able to plan the optimal placement of dental implants, as well as design dental implants that fit perfectly within your jaw.
Fast, Easy Scanning
Getting X-rays and other types of imaging can be both time consuming and nerve-wracking for some patients. The CS 8100 3D provides you with a much better patient experience. After you have removed all metal (earrings, necklaces, hair accessories, glasses, hearing aids), you stand at the machine, and we will make any necessary adjustments (we can also adjust the height for patients of varying heights or those in wheelchairs), and you bite down on the bite block. The machine features an open-face design, which allows for face to face interaction. This feature can greatly improve your comfort. The scan takes only seconds (as little as 7 seconds), which means less risk of movement and having to retake your image. The machine is also very quiet, which is an additional benefit for those who might be anxious.
Precision Digital Imaging
The images that are captured with the CS 8100 3D are extremely precise. The images are sharp and contrasted. With the 3D images, we can gain a much better picture of your specific dental anatomy, and they eliminate the risk of distortion and overlap. We can see your mouth from various angles. The images we capture also provide 1 to 1 accuracy, which means that we can provide you with a much more effective treatment plan. The images can be manipulated using specialized software, stored digitally, and easily recalled when needed.
Many patients are wary of dental imaging because of the exposure to radiation. Because of this, many patients avoid seeking dental treatment, which often leads to the worsening of oral health issues. With the CS 8100 3D, your exposure to radiation is greatly reduced. We can confine the radiation to the area we need to scan. We can control the dose of radiation used for your exam. The radiation you are exposed to is kept as low as possible. Finally, there are even low dose modes for taking 3D images, which enable us to limit further the amount of radiation you are exposed to when compared to a panoramic image.
With the CS 8100 3D System, we can take accurate images that allow us to get a complete picture of your specific situation, and create an effective treatment plan that will provide you with the best possible results.
Thanks to advancements in technology and techniques, dental implant treatment is safer, easier, and more successful than ever before. At Palisades Surgical Arts, we utilize a relatively new 3-D imaging technology known as X-Guide. More specifically, we use the name brand X-Nav system to ensure our patients experience the best possible results!
X-Guide is a revolutionary new system that allows us to plan and perform your implant surgery with the highest level of precision and accuracy. This guided system utilizes 3-D imaging technology, also known as CBCT, which stands for cone beam computed tomography. CBCT gives us a detailed three-dimensional image of your teeth, soft tissues, and underlying bone structure within a single scan. Click here to learn more about our X-Nav Technology
